I’m doing this report from my bed in my cosy tent after a mixed day. The morning started very early; I got up at 6am and went up to the triangle by the main compound where all the security and workers come in. I’ve been going up there from about 6:30-7:00am and photographing as they arrive, with 4 or 6 to a car. Lots of evidence of breeching social distancing by coming in together and walking into the compound really close together. That was the start of the day.

Not long after, Dolphin got arrested after climbing on top of a digger by Broadwells. She is in Leamington and not out yet. Hopefully she won’t get turfed out in the middle of the night like Karl did. Another treehouse has gone up on our side of the camp down at Crackley by the stream. It’s a really tall treehouse which overlooks HS2 land right next to their fencing.

We were watching most of the day as they were working in the lower Crackley Wood. There was a beautiful marshy bit in between the potato fields and the wood, which could be an underground spring. They spent all day building a culvert with a plastic tube and then dumping loads of quarry stone on it. There is a beautiful stream that comes through Crackley Wood and goes onto HS2 land. According to the ecologist on site, hey still don’t know what they are doing with the rest of the stream, but since it crosses HS2 land they are going to have to cut it in some way and handle that really well because it feeds habitats of nature further down. We will be keeping an eye on that.

We also did a big shop at Aldi’s, and we stocked up. Our kitchen is looking healthy with vegetables and staples. Most people are still out building treehouses or making wooden bowls and spoons. We are getting ourselves together as a community, which is nice. Then we had some Know Your Rights Training as someone made dinner, and we were able to listen to the training. Lots of people were asking great questions at the end and it was really helpful.
